The Good: Actresses

I thought that creating a list of my favorite and least favorite actresses would be a good idea to be able to kinda sorta give readers a feel for my particular tastes in films. There’s also lists for actors so make sure to check that out as well.

(Actually, just one more thing. Since I couldn’t narrow the lists down to just 5 actors/actresses, there will be a few honorable mentions in each category).

Top 5 Actresses

1. Amy Adams

This choice was easy for me as Adams pretty much dominates any role she’s in. The first time I personally took notice of her was in the film Junebug, which was a great little movie about a woman from a big city who goes to meet her new in-laws in North Carolina. Amy Adams plays a very perky pregnant girl. She’s remarkable in that role. Also, even though it seems like something that I should be a little shy to admit, she really made Enchanted a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I really just hope she doesn’t fall into the trap of being cast in a whole bunch of formulaic romantic comedies (which could probably be said of most actresses).

2. Michelle Williams

The top 2 on this list is going to be hard to change for a long time. I think Adams and Williams are going to have very long and very good careers.

3.Elizabeth Olsen

I have to say that there is no way I ever thought I’d be putting an Olsen sister on a list of good anything. But… even thought she’s only been in one good film (Martha Marcy May Marlene) she was amazing in that film and her performance in Silent House was not bad (that movie wasn’t very good though). She looks like she’s on a career path towards doing a bunch of independent films and she’s rumored to be in the American version of Old Boy according to IMDB. I’m looking forward to her being in more films.

4. Carey Mulligan

One word. One Syllable. Drive.

5. Anne Hathaway

She was able to hold on to the number 5 spot here because of her turn as Cat Woman, which may have been the best part of the brilliant Dark Knight Rises.

Honorable Mentions

Emily Blunt, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Mila Kunis

That’s it for the top actresses. Thanks for stopping by.
